AERODROME TECHNICAL HEIGHTS (3D COLOURS)

MOD Safeguarding data relating to MOD estate that constitutes or holds Aerodrome and/or Technical assets. The term 'height limits' refers to the fact that safeguarding criteria for these zones is defined by the development height.

This dataset sets out safeguarding consultation criteria based on the maximum allowable height for a development at a given location within the safeguarding zone footprint. There are five categories, each of which are delineated by a colour;

Criteria

Purple (Any Development)

Consultation required for any development or change of use of land

Red (10.7m)

Consultation required for any building structure or works exceeding 10.7m in height above ground level

Green (15.2m)

Consultation required for any building structure or works exceeding 15.2m in height above ground level

Yellow (45.7m)

Consultation required for any building structure or works exceeding 45.7m in height above ground level

DIO Safeguarding should be consulted on all potential developments that fit the above criteria whenever they are situated within a relevant safeguarding zone.

BIRDSTRIKE ZONES

Birdstrike Zones represent the locations in which DIO Safeguarding should be consulted on developments that would attract or encourage increased bird populations within a specified distance of MOD aerodromes. Examples can include the development of new nature reserves, wetlands and reservoirs, and new refuse and sewage disposal works.

Birdstrike zones are always associated with MOD Aerodromes. Birdstrike zones are usually a singular buffer to a set distance.

SAFEGUARDING EXTENT

MOD Safeguarding data relating to MOD Aerodromes. The Safeguarding Extent data constitutes an overall footprint feature for each safeguarded Aerodrome.

The purpose of this data is ensuring criteria is in place for consultations relating to micro gliding, gliding and hang-gliding sites. DIO Safeguarding should be consulted on all applications associated with these activities.

MOD Safeguarding Data for Great Britain.
